Winners of the “Startup School 3” Project of the “Enterprise Azerbaijan” portal announced

The “Enterprise Azerbaijan” portal operating under the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) held a “Demo-Day” event covering the final stage of the “Green and Digital Silk Road” international acceleration program within the framework of the “Startup School 3” project. The event was held at the Azerbaijan Innovation Center and served as an important platform in terms of presenting the work done in the field of innovation activity, startup ecosystem and digital transformation in the country.

The first stage of the event began with a startup exhibition. 30 startup teams that reached the final stage of the acceleration program presented their projects to the attention of participants and judges by demonstrating them at special exhibition stands. The projects exhibited at the exhibition encompassed a wide range of innovations covering green energy, digital technologies, medicine and health, agricultural innovations, artificial intelligence, educational technologies, tourism, chemical industry and other areas. The jury evaluated the submitted projects based on criteria such as innovativeness, applicability, team training and commercialization opportunities and selected the seven best startups for the next stage. The overall winners of the day were also determined at this stage.

The next part of the event continued with networking and official opening speeches. At the opening ceremony, the Executive Director of the Institute of Innovation and Technology, Professor Vusal Gasimli, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Issues Bahar Muradova, the Chairman of the Board of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency Farid Osmanov, and the Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy Javid Abdullayev spoke and shared their views on the work done to develop the innovation environment in the country, support startups and strengthen international partnerships. Then, the Head of the “Enterprise Azerbaijan” portal Isa Gasimov provided information on the goals, stages and results of the acceleration program.

The event featured presentations of the seven most promising startup teams selected as part of the event – ​​“Agro Gemtin”, “Smart Bin”, “The Bioplastic”, “Green Guest”, “SoilCredit”, “Zeuph” and “Science Delta” projects. The teams presented the essence of their projects, their application areas and innovation value to the audience. After the presentations, Professor Vusal Gasimli presented a “Letter of Appreciation” to the jury members for their support. Then, the jury members – Murat Baday, representative of Synapses Ventures, and Gonca Kara, representative of A8 Acceleration Center, spoke and appreciated the event’s contribution to the regional innovation ecosystem.

At the end of the event, the names of the winners were announced. The third place winner, “The Bioplastic”, was announced by Nijat Mammadli, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Education. The second place winner, “Smart Bin”, was announced by Urkhan Alekperov, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration, and the award was presented by Indira Hajiyeva, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. The first place winner, Agro Gemtin, was announced and awarded by the Executive Director of the Institute of Industrial and Technological Development, Professor Vusal Gasimli.

The “Startup School 3” project is implemented to stimulate the development of startups operating on the basis of innovative ideas, to encourage the creation of new technological solutions in the green and digital fields, as well as to strengthen international cooperation in this direction. The project supports the integration of startups into regional and global markets by increasing their knowledge, skills and resource capabilities.
