The project consists of the development, evaluation and application of a superabsorbent substance that decreases water waste during irrigation in farmland. Many nations around the globe, not just Azerbaijan, are currently dealing with the issue of decreased output brought on by water scarcity in agriculture. As part of this project, we are creating a smart water-storage substance using smart technology that is built on locally available materials (bentonite clay, cotton cellulose, and polymer). The substance has a storage capacity of 50–300 ml of water per gram. Amounting to 8 kg per hectare, the material progressively returns the water and minerals the plant needs to the earth by absorbing some of the irrigation water and dissolved minerals. According to data we got from the Ministry of Agriculture and polls we conducted with farmers in the lowland area, the waters of Kura and Araz have dropped by 46 and 27%, respectively. As a consequence, the majority of the irrigated regions are in danger, which has reduced output.
